A Loving tribute to our dear Sr. Mary Fidelis FSM

“In His time He makes all things beautiful”.

There is time for everything under heaven.

Time to be born and time to return to the creator

Yes dear friends, Sr. Mary Fidelis’s life on earth has come to an end in His calendar. But memories about her sweep over our minds and hearts. She was bloomed on 24th May 1938 in a very faith filled Christian family of Thadathil at Vazhakulam for Mr. Joseph and Mrs. Annamma. As Benjamin of the family she was surrounded by piety and good values, nurtured with love for the poor and needy. She stepped into the garden of FSM on 24th March 1960. Her life remained down to earth to reach to the down trodden. Sister did diploma in home science. She showed God’s love and care especially towards the elderly and sick.

Her dedicated service with love for simple and humble made many to approach her freely. Like St. Theresa of Child Jesus she was very faithful in little things – serving in the pharmacy, laundry, kitchen, teaching catechism and pastoral work. She was a hard working animator who was admired and appreciated by many. Her service in various places like Salem, Thiruchengode, Vadanapalli, Pothy, Thalakottukara, Chennai, Mathagondapalli, Bangalore, Krishnagiri and finally in Elathagiri ended fruitfully. She was very simple, kind and unassuming in nature. She had a special grace to be graceful and blissful to all who came to her.

For the past 1½ year she was confined to the wheelchair and completely dependent on others for her daily activities. For the past six months she prepared herself to meet her creator accepting her physical pain and illness. Since a week she reduced her oral intake, and her sugar level was going down and with IV fluids it was maintained; Day by day physical strength was deteriorating. On 5th March we shifted her to St. Louis hospital. Investigations revealed that mild urinary infection & chest congestion, for which treatment was started with antibiotics. In spite of all the measures taken, on 7th March towards morning she was found restless and slowly sinking. At 5.50 am silently she bid farewell to us.

The mortal remains of Sr. Mary Fidelis was kept at St. Clare’s hospital community for the final tribute. The following day the requiem mass was celebrated by Fr. Isaias the parish priest of Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, Krishnagiri surrounded by few priests of the diocese. Many of our sisters, family members, parishioners, teachers and friends joined to say good-bye to our dear Sr. Mary Fidelis.

On this unforgettable day – women’s day, we the FSM family fondly express our gratitude to God, the author of life and her beloved family members for offering her to our congregation. We express our deep condolences to her loved ones.

Thanks to all our sisters and well-wishers who were present in person and through their valuable prayers. A special note of thanks to Sr. Reetha Paul our Superior General, Sr.Miriam our Provincial for all their support, concern and prayers.

Her earthly journey has come to an end, but we are glad that she has gained the heavenly inheritance.

Dear Sr. Fidelis intercede for us, may you rest in peace.
