It was to this town in North Kanara – locally known as Uttara Kannada, that we were invited to set up a house by the most Rev. William L. D’Mello, the first Bishop of the newly carved diocese from the Diocese of Gulbarga and erected as Diocese by the Pope Paul VI in January 1976.

In answer to the request of the Bishop, late Mother Marie Marguerite, the then Regional Superior opened the fraternity in September 1979. Sr. Loretta, the animator and doctor cared for the patients coming to the clinic while Sr. Elise Mary; Staff nurse attended on the patients and also coordinated the Mother and Child health programme. Sr. Marie Rose gave her services to the Family Service Centre as Secretary and also to the Youth group in the parish. Sr. Jessy, a teacher rendered her services in the parish and community. Sr. Paula was appointed as the Project Officer of the diocesan Social Service Centre.

The presence of the sisters in the Kajubagh parish, their service in the church and school, the family visits, gave new life to the local people. The number of students in the school increased steadily and the quality of faith and family life improved along with a greater awareness of their rights and duties.
Our apostolate is now centered in the diocesan school which has classes from the Kindergarten to Higher Primary. Our presence is recognized for building the future generations in the Parish, especially in faith formation, animating adult groups as CWC, etc.
